Job Summary: This position is responsible for greeting patients, entering information into a medical computer system, preparing patient charts, requesting and receiving payments, answering telephones, requesting prior authorizations and making appointments while maintaining patient confidentiality.
Key Competencies: Demonstrated ability to greet patients promptly and in a courteous and professional manner, providing necessary instructions and/or directions to complete the intake process.
Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to accurately complete necessary paperwork and utilize a computer system to perform data entry and generate reports.
Demonstrated ability to conform to all HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
Demonstrated ability to operate MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and Internet Explorer/Mozilla Firefox. Must type 40 WPM.
Demonstrated ability to operate basic office equipment.
Knowledge of medical coding.
Education: Associate’s degree or High School Diploma/GED preferred. Billing/Coding certificate preferred. EHR experience preferred.
Experience: At least two years of customer service experience in a medical care environment. Coding & Billing experience preferred.
